A permanent link can also be known as a stable link, durable link, persistent link, permalink or a PURL. It provides a direct link to a resource such as a journal article, ebook or a print book. URL's that appear in the address bar of your browser may not work over time, so it is best practice to use a permanent link.

To copy a permanent link from EOLAS:

  • Search for an item using EOLAS and click on it's title to open the more detailed view.
  • Click on the permalink icon (paper clip) to the right of the page.
  • Copy the permalink which appears above the title into Moodle or e-mail or a word document etc.
